Do you find negotiating your salary awkward?

Do you find negotiating your salary awkward? Don't we all

Negotiating can feel awkward but practice makes perfect and we want you to get PAID. Negotiating your salary with your employer can demonstrate that you are capable, confident and comfortable with what you have to offer. In short- you know your worth.

This conversation comes after a comment by @jobswithshay who breaks down how to negotiate with confidence. Men are 4x LIKELY to ask for higher pay than women who have the SAME qualifications. Crazy right? Negotiating pay should no longer be seen as a 'maybe' but now a PRIORITY in every single job move you make.

So how can we tackle this? Here are some ground rules:

  • Never accept the first offer

  • Avoid giving your number first

  • When pushed say "you're happy with 'market rate'"

  • Always ask 'what is the budget for this role?'

  • Research

  • Back yourself with data

  • Keep a positive but firm tone

  • Ask for more than what you want

  • Keep your conversations to email if nervous
