We’ve all been there. When you feel like you should be paid more — or worse you find out that someone doing a very similar job is being paid way more — and you realise it’s time for a change.

Approaching the conversation can be daunting, even if you’ve been working for years. From layers of bureaucracy to being told ‘no’ point-blank, knowing how to manage a ‘successful’ money discussion takes work.

It’s not news that if you’re from a dominant group - e.g. (white, cishet) men, you’re more likely to be given the payrise you ask for. The question is why? When we understand the root, we get closer to the remedy.
